Los Angeles ABOTA is looking forward to hosting the 2025 LA-ABOTA Judicial Reception on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, from 6-8 p.m. on the Great Lawn at the Jonathan Club in Downtown Los Angeles.

Join us for an evening of cocktails and passed hors d'oeuvres as we celebrate the LA-ABOTA Judge of the Year and the other esteemed members of the Los Angeles Judiciary.

Registration is available for ABOTA members and their guests at a rate of $95.00 per attendee. Members of the Judiciary and their guests are invited to attend at no charge.

The Jack Daniels Annual Program for Trial Advocacy is presented by the LA-ABOTA.

The Jack Daniels Annual Program for Trial Advocacy is presented by the Los Angeles Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates (LA-ABOTA). The purpose of this course is to enhance the participant's skills as a trial attorney. It is an intense and demanding course, that has the participant on his/her feet arguing, questioning, and developing their skills. The emphasis of the course is on developing trial techniques and skills rather than knowledge of substantive law. The subject matter covered in this three-day intensive course will include voir dire, direct, cross and redirect examination, opening statements, and closing arguments. The length of the program is designed to enable interested attorneys to participate who might otherwise not be able to break away from their practice for a longer, more expensive program. The technique of teaching trial advocacy is to immerse the student in the actual performance of all phases of the trial. Each performance will be immediately critiqued. Participants will learn under the guidance of experienced trial lawyers and judges in a simulated courtroom environment.
